Caroline Curvan talks on the US Exploring Expedition

BNRA Monthly Zoom meeting November 2024 Caroline Curvan gave a presentation on the subject of her forthcoming book on the official artist for the US Exploring Expedition in the Pacific that took place between 1838-1842. Alfred Agate came from her home town, and sadly died far too young. However, he left us with some great engravings and paintings that accompanies the wonderful charts drawn by the officers. Caroline focussed on the calls in Tonga and Fiji, having sailed on the Bark Europa in the same waters. Do come and join the Britannia Naval Research Association if you find this talk of interest.
